SUNDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO “The Sky Cries (TREADMARKS Version)”
—Rain is one of the great equalizers of humanity, meaning that it falls on everyone whatever your status in life.
“Blood is pounding through your head, nothing makes any sense
You have a dark spot a feeling of dread, tired of waiting on the fence
Makes you feel like you’re the only one who ever felt this pain
Makes it hard to see the sun when all you see is rain
“And the sky cries, the rain falls down on everyone
But it never ever lies, and it doesn’t last forever…
“The rain falls on the just and the unjust
The rain falls on the rich and the poor
The rain falls on the captive and the free
The rain falls on the black and the white
The rain falls down on you and me
…and the sky cries, it cries, it cries…
…but it doesn’t last forever!”
The lyrics for “The Sky Cries” are based on the scripture, “The rain falls on the just and the unjust…” Musically I was influenced by Fleetwood Mac, Roy Orbison, and Mike Roe (of the 77s). This is the original acoustic version (played on detuned 12-String guitar w/slide) produced by Mark Doyon and recorded in Virginia.
Oddly enough, this recording was used as a feature cut on a Los Angeles radio show with the topic of hurricanes and theology.
