"Shapes of Things" in a War-Torn World
Peter Chauncey's SONG OF THE WEEK, covering The Yardbirds
“Come tomorrow, will I be older?
Come tomorrow, may be a soldier
Come tomorrow, may I be bolder than today?”
peter chauncey’s SONG OF THE WEEK: “Shapes of Things”
…A young man faces a world gearing towards war and devastation. His questions are expressed in "Shapes of Things" by The Yardbirds.
The original hard rockin’ psychedelic version was a hit single, exploding on the airwaves in 1966 (the song has been covered in similar form many times since). In peter’s remake (from his EP MOTHER OF PEARL), the song becomes a meditational serenade, as if to assure the young man he will become “bolder than today.” Prayers for Ukraine.
