SONG OF THE WEEK: “Lighten Up”—April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month. On the points of recovery, strength, hope, & healing, I offer the bittersweet humoresque of “Lighten Up,” the story of a guy whose woman left him, his dog died, his cat got sick, he’s sick, his tires were slashed while it’s raining, his job is on the line, and so on.
It’s all a bit overwhelming but the light breaks through. He realizes this, too, shall pass, and there’s a reason for it all as he walks a new path with a new outlook…
“Anyone who’s worth anything goes through a kind of flame
The only fire that purifies your name
When you feel that doom and darkness have become some kind of crutch
Then all that’s left to do is to lighten up…”
“The Astral DJ” playlists this with Ace of Base, Kraftwerk, and Sting. Listen to this reggae-fied electronica pop tune (mixed by Tim Breon) by visiting the link below (feedback welcome). Thanks for listening and lighting up.
