"Jeepster" A Tribute to T. Rex & a Monkee

SATURDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO “Jeepster” by Davy Jones & Toast ...”Jeepster” is a Marc Bolan song from the landmark T. Rex album ELECTRIC WARRIOR.

Davy Jones was a big fan of Bolan / T. Rex and, in a way, they were kindred spirits with The Monkees in terms of visual theatrics and quirky pop appeal.

Underlining that: In 1979, Davy fronted a band named Toast (sandwiched between the Dolenz-Jones-Boyce & Hart projects and his Japanese tours of the early 80s). Captured here is a recovered cassette recording of DJ & Toast covering “Jeepster” in concert. Toast featured keyboardist-extraordaire Alan Green (he wrote several songs for Davy and contributed to The Monkees’s 1987 POOL IT album). In the 00s Davy and I talked about bringing it back into his set but never got to it. Enjoy this video celebration of a rockin’ track.
