…I played bass on this sparky slice of ska-jazz-funk. An alt-mix of it appears in the acclaimed film THANK YOU, SURF AGAIN, a documentary about surfers who do good deeds around the world (watch on Vimeo). On a cosmic jukebox, Funk Dub Division would play between Black Uhuru, Miles Davis, Martin Denny, and Rufus. FDD is spearheaded by my friends and colleagues Bill Stefanacci* and Dan Rielly,** agents in an international cabal of musical revolutionaries and technologists--otherwise known as The Secret Society of Global Groove a.k.a. Funk Dub Division—look up their music on bandcamp, Soundcloud, + the usual streaming outlets.
*Bill is the head of ESA Productions, a company that produces documentaries and educational television shows. He has also worked with Sukavet Ali Khan, Hugh Masakela, Les McCann, Metallica, Judy Mowatt, The Persuasions, The Shanghai Conservatory Ensemble, Third World, & other diverse notables.
**Dan has been in bands such as Bjorn Baby Bjorn (acclaimed ABBA tribute band), The Job featuring Allen Ginsberg, Party of 5, The Skoings, & many others. Dan has also appeared on a few of my recordings. It was he who suggested I cover the song “Love Love Alone,” which morphed into a collaboration with Davy Jones (The Monkees).
