HAPPY BIRTHDAY Davy Jones + THE THURSDAY TIME TRAVELER…Today the Chris Andrews Time Machine rewinds to 2009, to the village of Beavertown, Pennsylvania, USA , where Davy Jones (of The Monkees) had a get-away home called Spruce Lawn—a 14 acre spread with a mansion, a barn, and a horse track. He’d been working down the road at Songcrafters Studios, creating an album of pop standards called SHE (dedicated to his mother). Concurrently, Chris was there to work on a musical with Davy, who decided Chris should be part of the SHE sessions (escalating into 12 songs). Davy was a big fan of Johnnie Ray, the explosive singer-songwriter whose jazz-blues stylings foreshadowed rock’n’roll and modern r’n’b. One of the SHE highlights is a cover of Ray’s big hit “Cry"...meanwhile, Happy Birthday David--you sang your heart out!
