FRIDAY FLASHBACK: “Lay Me Down” by Samuel Bowen
In the late 80s, Sam and I connected through underground fanzines and finally met in person. He’s a prolific and passionate singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Douglas MA, and he’s released several solo projects as well as award-winning albums with his band Blue Cat Groove. Over the years he and I have intersected doing concerts and some recordings. One week in 2010, I was gigging around Boston and Sam beckoned me to the studio to help on some tracks. That let to our first songwriting collaboration, “Lay Me Down.” On a cosmic jukebox it would play between Jackson Browne and Tom Petty. Check it out!
