ALBUM OF THE WEEK! “FIRE” A production tour-de-force but with a romantic and spiritual intimacy. It was recorded on 3 continents and around the USA, but the small city of Williamsport (Pennsylvania) was the heat-center for FIRE’s melting pot—a “stew of obsessions” with Brit-pop, funk, gospel, Latin rock, 80s New Wave, psychedelia, reggae, and techno. Musicians on FIRE include Pistol Allen (Motown), Wayne Avers (Monkees), John Bechdel (Killing Joke, Ministry), Tim Breon, Bil Bryant, evinrude, Sandy Gennaro (Joan Jett, Cyndi Lauper), Bill Matlack, Jr., gospel singer Monette Newsuan, drum legend Jab’O Starks (James Brown), and the late Davy Jones of The Monkees—who contributed to 4 tracks and said “’Dancin’ by the River’ should be on Top of the Pops.”
FIRE received glowing reviews and sold around the world. Every song on the album received airplay in 9 countries (some "No. 1s" in Australia and Germany). On a cosmic jukebox FIRE would play next to The Beatles, De La Soul, Kraftwerk, Mongo Santamaria, Sting, Donna Summer, and Weather Report.
